Roeugn Chetra

Roeung Chetra (Khmer: រឿង ចិត្រា) was born in 2004 in Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. Standing at 1.63 meters, Chetra competes in the 57-kilogram weight class. He trains under the guidance of Roeugn Sophorn, an active Kun Khmer fighter and founder of Roeung Sophorn Kun Khmer gym.

Chetra’s introduction to Kun Khmer came after he ended his formal education at grade 9, with encouragement from his father, who has long been an admirer of the sport. However, his decision to pursue fighting was not initially supported by his mother, who took two years to come to terms with his choice. Despite his early success, Chetra’s journey has not been without challenges. Balancing the physical demands of training with the expectations of his family has shaped his resilience and determination.

On 23 November 2025, Chetra won the Krud Kun Khmer trophy after earning a points victory over Ly Sokha in a hard-fought five-round bout. The win also brought him the first major prize money of his young career. The event took place in Prey Veng Province and was hosted by TVK.

As he continues to develop under the guidance of seasoned fighter Roeugn Sophorn, Chetra remains a promising name in Kun Khmer. Whether he can maintain this strong momentum in the years ahead is still uncertain, and it may be a little early to judge his long-term trajectory.
