Eh Amarin Phouthong

Eh Amarin Phouthong (Khmer: អេ អាំម៉ារីន ភូថង), usually shortened to just Eh Amarin, is a remarkable Kun Khmer talent from the scenic Koh Kong Province. Born in 2005, Amarin’s journey into the world of Kun Khmer began under the guidance of his father, Eh Phouthong, a Kun Khmer legend and current trainer at the Galaxy Navatra Eh Phouthong Kun Khmer boxing gym.

Early Inspiration​ and Kun Khmer Journey

As a young boy, Amarin was profoundly inspired by his father. A defining moment occurred when he was riding on a motorcycle with his father and witnessed the admiration and recognition his father received from bystanders. This experience fueled Amarin’s desire to achieve similar recognition and make a name for himself in the world of Kun Khmer.

Amarin’s journey into Kun Khmer is not solitary within his family. He walks the path alongside his oldest sister, Eh Yanuth, and his elder brother, Maeun Mekhea, both esteemed figures in the realms of Kun Khmer and kickboxing. Together, they form a formidable force, each contributing to the rich tapestry of their family’s legacy in martial arts.

Amarin, with his exceptional skills in Kun Khmer, has emerged as a rising force in the martial arts scene. His dedication and unwavering determination set him apart, marking him as a dynamic and promising athlete. As of May 25, 2024, he holds one of the longest winning streaks in the sport. As he gains more experience in the ring, fans grow increasingly confident in his performance day by day.

In 2021, Amarin achieved a significant milestone by securing the championship at Hang Meas Arena, earning a trophy and $10,000 in prize money. His international exposure includes a memorable trip to Australia, where he showcased his skills and claimed victory against an Australian veteran fighter. This victory earned him an international title and a prize car sponsored by an energy drink company.

On December 14, 2024, Amarin secured another remarkable victory, defeating Australian fighter Andrew Mitchel by unanimous decision after five rounds at a championship event hosted by Ganzberg in Sydney, Australia. This triumph earned him the prestigious title of “Best of the Best 2024 Welterweight Champion” (68kg).

His success in Australia continued a winning streak that began in November 2023, when he defeated another Australian fighter at a Ganzberg event and was rewarded with a brand-new car for his impressive performance.
