Hang Sam An

Hang Sam An (Khmer: ហង្ស សំអាត) was born in 2000 in Takeo Province, Cambodia. Known by his nickname, “The Special Force Warrior,” he has become a respected figure in the Kun Khmer fighting scene. Competing in the 63.5kg division, Sam An fights with a southpaw stance—a rarity among Cambodian Kun Khmer practitioners. He trains at the Special Force Gym, part of the RCAF Boxing Association, under the guidance of coach Hang Makhem. His fighting style is deeply influenced by the Kun Krou tradition of Preah Lak Poit Seyma, which draws inspiration from the mythological tale of Lakshmana drawing a protective circle.

At the age of 25, Sam An’s professional journey reflects the ups and downs of a fighter constantly learning and adapting. He has faced a range of opponents, some bouts ending in victory and others in valuable lessons. While he’s had moments where his strikes have stood out, much of his progress comes from perseverance and the willingness to keep improving. Each fight adds to his experience, and he continues to focus on growing as a fighter, one step at a time.

On April 26, 2025, Sam An delivered one of his most striking performances during an Xtreme Cambodia Kun Khmer event broadcast on Hang Meas Full HD TV. Facing a Burmese fighter, he showcased his trademark precision with two devastating kicks to the same spot—the right kneecap. The first kick forced an 8-count, and the second left his opponent unable to continue, prompting the referee to step in for a stoppage just moments later. This victory not only added another win to his ledger but also earned him recognition as the fastest TKO of the week.

Through steady dedication to his craft, Sam An continues to carve out his place in Kun Khmer, representing his gym and his province with quiet determination. While he remains focused on improving fight by fight, the rapid growth of international events in the sport could provide opportunities for him to test himself against higher-level competition in the future.
