Khuon Laingkosin (Khmer: ឃួន ឡាំងកូស៊ីន), also spelled Phuon Laingkosin, born in 2003, is a Professional Kun Khmer fighter and a SEA Games 2023 Gold Medalist, hailing from Banteay Mean Chey Province
Journey into Kun Khmer
Laingkosin’s journey into Kun Khmer was undoubtedly inspired by his father, a Kun Khmer legend who served as both his mentor and trainer. Like many Kun Khmer fighters, financial constraints led Khuon to drop out of school in the 8th grade. He embarked on his boxing career at the Sao Yan Neakea Boxing Gym in Banteay Meanchey Province before further honing his skills in Thailand. His path has not been without its obstacles; Khuon has endured several injuries throughout his career, both in Cambodia and Thailand.
International Success
Khuon’s rise to international acclaim reached its pinnacle at the IFMA World Muaythai Grand Slam 2022, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With unparalleled determination and impeccable skill, he conquered formidable opponents on his path to victory. From securing a decisive victory against Saafuan Shah Bin Roslan in the first round to dominating the ring against Hacen Wani in the quarter-finals, Khuon showcased his unwavering prowess. Advancing to the semi-finals, he clashed with Mohamed Omer in yet another remarkable display of skill, ultimately emerging victorious. The climactic finals saw Khuon engage in a fierce showdown against Emran Batoori, triumphing with a close score of 18-20 and proudly bringing home the gold medal for Cambodia.
Furthermore, Khuon represented the National Team at the SEA Games 2023, hosted by Cambodia, where he clinched another gold medal, which adds up to his enduring commitment to excellence.
