Long Benloeurn (Khmer: ឡុង បេនលឿន), born in 1996 in Kampot Province, has become a prominent figure in the realm of Kun Khmer. Benloeurn’s journey into the world of Kun Khmer is a testament to his unwavering passion for martial arts.
Raised as an orphan by his farmer mother, he faced challenges that only fueled his determination. Despite completing only grade 4, Benloeurn ventured into the world of Kun Khmer without his mother’s approval, driven by the inspiration he drew from senior fighters like Long Sophy and Long Samnang at Saravon Kun Khmer Boxing Gym.
Initially, his pursuit of Kun Khmer clashed with his job as a chef, a position that provided a decent income. However, fueled by his passion and guided by the supportive environment at Saravon Kun Khmer Boxing Gym, Benloeurn made the life-changing decision to leave his job behind. His mother, unaware of his endeavors, discovered his involvement in Kun Khmer, leading to a temporary hiatus. Despite initial disapproval, Benloeurn’s continuous success in the ring, marked by 5 to 6 consecutive victories, gradually garnered acceptance from his mother.
Born in Chhouk district, Kampot Province, Long Benloeurn lacked a familial lineage in the martial arts, but he found support from other relatives who shared his love for the sport. Benloeurn spent the first four years of a relentless journey before achieving his first title, which later saw him grab more titles.
On February 4, 2024, Long Benloeurn achieved a significant milestone in his career by clinching the Carabao Title. In a thrilling match against Thai contender Petch Samart, Benloeurn secured victory through unanimous decision, showcasing his skill and determination.
Despite earning only around $30 from his first televised match as the opening act, Benloeurn’s perseverance and hope paved the way for his eventual success in the world of Kun Khmer.
