Makara Kun Khmer

Makara Kun Khmer (Khmer: មករា គុនខ្មែរ), born in 1995 and previously known as Elit Makara, is a Kun Khmer fighter originally from Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. Standing at 1.68 meters, he currently competes in the 69-kilogram weight class with an orthodox stance and trains at Kun Khmer Daun Ta Gym under the guidance of master Khim Socheat.

Makara began his career under the tutelage of Mr. Sorn Elit, where he showed promise and performed well. However, when Mr. Sorn Elit closed his gym and transferred his fighters to Kun Khmer Daun Ta Gym (by Town Full HDTV), Makara’s career experienced some fluctuations. While he initially struggled to maintain consistent form after the transition, he has recently shown signs of recovery and is regaining his footing in the sport.

On 25 May 2025, Makara stunned fans with an impressive comeback during a 9-minute Mas Fight event hosted by Town Full HDTV. At first, he appeared overwhelmed by his Laotian opponent, struggling to gain control. But as the fight progressed, he adapted quickly, identifying a weak spot in his opponent’s left thigh. Makara landed a powerful kick to that area, knocking the Laotian down for the first 8-count. Although the fighter managed to recover and continue, Makara delivered another strong blow to the same spot, sending him down again. This time, the Laotian couldn’t continue, and the fight was forfeited—marking a thrilling victory for Makara.

NOTE: Fight records of Kun Khmer fighters vary across TV stations. Therefore, I maintain an independent tally, adding one after each new fight to ensure consistency. These statistics include bouts under all rules such as Kun Khmer, Mas Fight, MMA, and Kickboxing and at all levels, including amateur fights, as Kun Khmer has historically lacked a standardized recording system. As a result, totals may appear higher than those of some international fighters, whose records often include only professional bouts.
