Moeun Sokhuch

Moeun Sokhuch (Khmer: មឿន សុខហ៊ុច), a distinguished name in the world of Kun Khmer, transcends the realm of mere skill to embody resilience and unwavering determination. Revered by fans for his distinctive combination of kicks, often seamlessly followed by elbows or punches, Sokhuch strategically minimizes his opponents’ chances to counter-attack.

    Born into Hardship

Born in 1997 in Mohaleap village, Roka Kong commune, Koh Sotin District, Kampong Cham province, Sokhuch’s journey to becoming a premier Kun Khmer boxer is etched with tales of hardship and unyielding struggle.

Towering at 1.70 meters and weighing 65 kilograms, Sokhuch, a kick specialist adept in the styles Kun Khmer, has etched his fighting prowess into the annals of the sport. His remarkable fight record, as of 20 January 2024, boasts 166 bouts, showcasing an impressive tally of 135 victories, 27 losses, and 4 draws, with 26 triumphs secured by TKO.

    Rising Above Adversity

Sokhuch’s formative years were marked by financial adversity within a large family. Born into a farming household with 12 siblings, economic strains compelled him to forsake his education at the age of 14, halting at the 4th grade.

In 2007, seeking better prospects, he journeyed to Phnom Penh, taking on the role of a construction laborer and earning a meager income that barely sustained his needs.

    The Hidden Passion Unveiled

The pivotal moment in Sokhuch’s life arrived when his concealed passion for Kun Khmer led him to clandestinely train at Puth Serey Vong Gym, unbeknownst to his family. Following nearly a year of dedicated training, he made his debut in the ring, marking the commencement of his journey as a Kun Khmer fighter.

Undeterred by challenges and the clandestine nature of his pursuit, Sokhuch’s dedication bore fruit. In 2016, he earned significant acclaim, particularly after securing the prestigious Max Muay Thai silver belt. This milestone not only marked a turning point in Sokhuch’s career but thrust him into the limelight, solidifying his standing as a formidable force in the world of Kun Khmer.

NOTE: Fight records of Kun Khmer fighters vary across TV stations. Therefore, I maintain an independent tally, adding one after each new fight to ensure consistency. These statistics include bouts under all rules such as Kun Khmer, Mas Fight, MMA, and Kickboxing and at all levels, including amateur fights, as Kun Khmer has historically lacked a standardized recording system. As a result, totals may appear higher than those of some international fighters, whose records often include only professional bouts.
