Oung Virak

Oung Virak (Khmer: អ៊ុង វីរៈ), also known as Ounk Phearak, was born in 1992 in Kampong Speu Province. Standing 1.75 meters tall and weighing 85 kg, he is a professional Kun Khmer fighter who has made a name for himself in the heavyweight class through skill and dedication.

Virak gained recognition after winning his first championship belt from the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) by defeating the legendary Outh Phouthang, now retired and a boxing referee. However, as he moved up to a higher weight class, opportunities in the ring became scarce, leading to inconsistent training and a dip in form. His absence left fans questioning whether he could reclaim his dominance.

With more foreign fighters entering Cambodia’s heavyweight division, Virak sees an opportunity for a comeback. At 32, an age where fighters often slow down, he is determined to regain peak performance. Fans eagerly await his resurgence.

On December 29, 2024, Virak faced a highly decorated Iranian fighter and five-time Gold Medalist. After a rough start, Virak’s resilience and stamina turned the tide. He forced a count at the end of round 3 and secured victory by judge decision in a hard-fought bout.

Outside the ring, Virak is admired for his humility, sportsmanship, and commitment to promoting Kun Khmer. His story of perseverance continues to inspire both fans and aspiring fighters, reflecting his passion for martial arts and dedication to the sport..

NOTE: Fight records of Kun Khmer fighters vary across TV stations. Therefore, I maintain an independent tally, adding one after each new fight to ensure consistency. These statistics include bouts under all rules such as Kun Khmer, Mas Fight, MMA, and Kickboxing and at all levels, including amateur fights, as Kun Khmer has historically lacked a standardized recording system. As a result, totals may appear higher than those of some international fighters, whose records often include only professional bouts.
