Phal Sophorn

    Phal Sophorn (Khmer: ផល សោភ័ណ្ឌ), born in 1994, is a skilled Kun Khmer fighter hailing from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He boasts considerable expertise in both boxing and Kun Khmer kickboxing, with the ring monikers “Nak Leng Keng Pi Kheat” and “Damrey Phluk Pi Kheat,” translating to “the Killer Elbow” and “the Killer Elephant” respectively.

    Born in Taley Village, Sangkat Dankao, Khan Dankao, Phnom Penh, Sophorn is married to Saren Kim Eng, and the couple has two children. In addition to his successful fighting career, Sophorn serves as a police officer with the Ministry of Interior.

    Career

    Sophorn’s journey in Kun Khmer began at the Taley Domrei Mean Rith Club, where his inspiration stemmed from his brother, Phal Sophat, a renowned Cambodian national boxer. Encouraged by his brother’s success, Sophorn participated in competitions, securing a string of championships.

    Notable Achievements

    In 2016, Phal Sophorn clinched victory against Vong Noy, earning the 63.5 kg Cambodia Beer Championship at Bayon Boeung Snor.

    Another triumph came in 2016 when he defeated Khim Dima at Bayon Arena, claiming the 63.5 kg Carabao Championship.

    Despite a setback in December 2016, facing defeat from Lao Chantrea at the Kubota Championship, Sophorn continued to showcase resilience.

    The IPCC Kun Khmer World Championship marked another milestone as Phal Sophorn emerged undefeated in the group stage, securing victory in all five matches. He triumphed over Mon Prohm Manh in the semi-finals.

    July 2022 witnessed Sophorn’s remarkable feat as he knocked out Long Ben Loeun in just one minute, earning the International Professional Combat Council’s Kun Khmer 63.5kg Kram championship.

    Breaking new ground, Sophorn became the first Cambodian fighter to secure the International Professional Combat Council’s Kun Khmer 63.5kg World Championship, organized by Town Arena.

    On September 30, 2023, Phal Sophorn added another title to his collection, winning the Wurkz World IPCC Kun Khmer title after defeating Changpuak Jesada by points.
