Pich Bunseth

Pich Bunseth (Khmer: ពេជ្រ ប៊ុនសិទ្ធ), born in 1999 in Battambang Province, is a dedicated Kun Khmer Fighter renowned by the moniker “Damrei Yaul Dai,” translating to “The Swing Elephant.” Bunseth exemplifies the essence of Kun Khmer with his distinctive style and fearless approach.

Early Life and Passion for Martial Arts

Despite facing financial constraints that limited his formal education to grade 6, Bunseth’s journey into the world of Kun Khmer was fueled by an unwavering passion for this martial art. Born and raised in Battamang Province, he developed a love for martial arts from a young age.

    Struggles and Determination

Driven by his love for Kun Khmer, Bunseth started training, overcoming challenges such as limited support from his mother due to his youth and the relatively low earnings from boxing at the time. His father, sharing a similar passion for the sport, became a pillar of support for Bunseth’s endeavors.

    Legacy of Fearless Approach

Pich Bunseth has earned a reputation as one of the Kun Khmer fighters known for his fearless approach. His tenacity and commitment to the sport have not only brought him success in the ring but also serve as an inspiration to aspiring martial artists, showcasing that determination can overcome challenges.

Pich Bunseth continues to leave an indelible mark on the martial arts community, embodying the spirit of “The Swing Elephant” both inside and outside the ring. He is known for his confident and fearless approach similar to Pich Sambath who is trained by the same master, Pich Sophan.

At the inaugural match held at Town TV’s newly unveiled ring, which showcases bare-knuckle matches, Bunseth demonstrated his prowess by triumphing over his Filipino opponent, Romeo Jr. Tendrio. Despite facing aggressive strikes from Tendrio in the early stages of the bout, Bunseth quickly turned the tables with two powerful left punches, ultimately knocking down his opponent late in the first round. This victory not only secured another TKO (Technical Knockout) on Bunseth’s fight record but also showcased his resilience and skill in the ring.

During the highly anticipated four-man tournament held on March 1, 2024, at the Ganzberg Idol Kun Khmer event organized by BTV, Bunseth demonstrated his exceptional skill. In the first match, he dominated his opponent, securing a convincing victory by unanimous decision. His remarkable performance continued in the finale, where he faced off against the formidable challenger, Bun Sothea. Despite the tough competition, Bunseth emerged victorious once again, this time by split decision. His outstanding performance not only earned him the championship belt but also a substantial prize money. Despite the split decision, most fans can agree that Bunseth really dominated the fight and that he deserves this victory.

NOTE: Fight records of Kun Khmer fighters vary across TV stations. Therefore, I maintain an independent tally, adding one after each new fight to ensure consistency. These statistics include bouts under all rules such as Kun Khmer, Mas Fight, MMA, and Kickboxing and at all levels, including amateur fights, as Kun Khmer has historically lacked a standardized recording system. As a result, totals may appear higher than those of some international fighters, whose records often include only professional bouts.
