Pich Sambath (Khmer: ពេជ្រ សម្បត្តិ; born April 8, 2002) is a Cambodian Kun Khmer practitioner originally from Kampong Speu province. Competing in the flyweight and bantamweight divisions, Sambath is widely regarded as one of the most prominent figures in the modern era of the sport. Known by the moniker “Krabei Prey Snaeng Daek” (the Steel-Horn Wild Buffalo), he has gained both national and international recognition for his aggressive fighting style, exceptional stamina, and a record-breaking series of title defenses in the mid-2020s.
Personal Life
Pich Sambath, born “Phoeun Sambath,” was born on April 8, 2002, in Kandoul village, Por Angkrong commune, Borset district, Kampong Speu Province. As the eldest son in a family of four siblings (two brothers and two sisters), Sambath’s upbringing was rooted in the rural lifestyle of Kampong Speu. His father worked as a construction foreman, while his mother tended to the family’s agricultural needs. Notably, Sambath’s younger brother, Phoeun Vansing, also joins the Kun Khmer training under the ring name Pich Singhak.
Sambath’s formal education only reached the seventh grade before he decided to pursue other opportunities. At the age of 19, Sambath ventured into his first Khmer boxing match, igniting his passion for the sport.
In 2019, Sambath commenced his Khmer boxing training, yet financial constraints prompted him to temporarily halt his pursuits and seek alternative employment. However, driven by a renewed sense of purpose and under the guidance of Mr. Pich Sophann, Sambath reimmersed himself in training in 2021, a commitment he remains steadfast in today.
Journey into Kun Khmer
Sambath’s journey into the realm of Kun Khmer commenced in 2021, and in just 2 years and a half, he has etched his name into the hearts of fans nationwide. His dedication to the craft has propelled him to unprecedented heights, breaking records and earning accolades that underscore his rapid ascent in the sport. Sambath has transcended geographical boundaries to become a nationally recognized figure. Most notably, in the first four months of 2026, Sambath solidified his status as the “King of the Belts” by capturing or successfully defending six belts in an unprecedented short window. This historic run has made him one of the highest-earning athletes in the sport today and includes:

- International Title (France)
- Mas Fight Belt
- Krud Belt (Successful Defense)
Beyond the Ring: A Rare Character
While his “Steel-Horn Wild Buffalo” persona is defined by aggression on the canvas, Sambath is equally respected for his “rare character” outside the ring. Despite reaching the pinnacle of success, he is known for:
- Humility: Maintaining a polite and humble demeanor toward fans and peers.
- Strict Discipline: A steadfast commitment to training and professional conduct.
- Resilience: Acting as a “Symbol of Struggle” for the Cambodian youth, proving that dedication can overcome financial and social barriers.

| NOTE: Fight records of Kun Khmer fighters vary across TV stations. Therefore, I maintain an independent tally, adding one after each new fight to ensure consistency. These statistics include bouts under all rules such as Kun Khmer, Mas Fight, MMA, and Kickboxing and at all levels, including amateur fights, as Kun Khmer has historically lacked a standardized recording system. As a result, totals may appear higher than those of some international fighters, whose records often include only professional bouts. | |
