Rithy Sosen (Khmer: រិទ្ធី សូសែន), previously known as Soda Sosen, was born in 2005 in Prey Veng Province, Cambodia. Before stepping into the martial arts arena, Sosen led a humble life, tending cows for his family. His passion for Kun Khmer ignited when he watched Lao Chetra fight on TV, inspiring him to pursue a career as a professional fighter.
Training and Career Beginnings
In 2020, Sosen began his training at Ko Prey Kun Khmer gym, initially known by the name Soda Sosen. His dedication and talent soon led him to transfer to Kun Khmer Super Fight Gym, where he adopted the name Rithy Sosen. His trainer, Phat Soda, has been instrumental in honing his skills and guiding his career.
Family Support and Early Achievements
According to an interview with Vayo FM, Sosen’s grandfather revealed that Sosen’s interest in martial arts began at the age of 7. He would often practice by pulling and dragging car tires, demonstrating his early commitment to the sport. His grandfather has been a strong supporter of his journey, emphasizing the importance of embracing both victories and losses.
Sosen competed in the National Championship, securing third place, and later clinched the CBS title by defeating rising star Phal Solong in the finale (I’m sure Sosen has achieved much more than what’s currently listed, but for now, I only have access to some older data.
