Sann Kun Khmer

Sann Kun Khmer (Khmer: សាន់ គុនខ្មែរ) also spelled Sun, born in 1999, is a professional Kun Khmer who emerges from initially contemplated abandoning the boxing career to become front runner, seizing opportunities to compete in significant events both domestically and internationally, earning the moniker “The King Kong.”

Early Life and Martial Arts Journey

Hailing from Banteay Mean Chey Province, he was previously known as Elit Sann commenced his training in 2018 under the guidance of his dedicated trainer, Sorn Elit. . He was about to quit the arena due to a few reasons including low prize. However, with unwavering support from his coach and family, he kept going until earning a reputation in the world of Kun Khmer.

In an interview with Kampuchea Thmey Daily, Sann shared, “When I first started competing, I received only 100,000 to 120,000 riel per match. At times, the meager prize tempted me to consider quitting boxing.” He continued, “As more supporters rallied behind me, I persevered in my training. I never anticipated the opportunity to participate in major events, competing for valuable prizes such as cars or international matches.”

With relentless dedication and encouragement from those around him, Elit Sann endeared himself to fans, transforming his early struggles into triumphs.

    Faded Chances

Elit Sann’s pursuit of winning a car prize from Boost Strong Energy Drinks faced setbacks twice. In the Kun Khmer All-Star – Episode 8, he emerged as a contender for the car after defeating Myanmar’s Zaw Aye See. However, despite his efforts, he received fewer votes than Pich Sambath, the initial car owner from Boston, resulting in a missed opportunity.

In another attempt to secure a car prize, Elit Sann performed admirably in the first match, defeating Thai Rong Ravi Chamek and advancing to the next round. Unfortunately, his journey concluded with a defeat against Khim Bora in the final, marking a second instance where the coveted prize slipped through his fingers.
