Som Piseth

Som Piseth (Khmer: សោម ពិសិដ្ឋ), born in 2002, is a Kun Khmer fighter from Svay Rieng Province. Training at Vibol Darith Kun Khmer Gym under the guidance of Mr. Long Vibol, Piseth currently competes in the 67-kilogram weight class.

Piseth shares a career path with his elder brother, Som Vichai, a seasoned Kun Khmer fighter, though he has carved out his own identity in the sport.

Early in his career, Piseth demonstrated skill and promise, earning recognition as a capable competitor. However, injuries forced him into an extended hiatus, disrupting his momentum. Adding to these challenges were financial pressures that compelled him to return to fighting before fully recovering from an injured hand—a decision that temporarily impacted his performance.

Despite these setbacks, Piseth remained committed to the sport. After regaining his health and refocusing on his training, he gradually rebuilt his presence in the ring and has proven successful in several of his recent bouts against foreign fighters.

Piseth’s perseverance underscores the difficulties many Kun Khmer fighters face, where dedication to the discipline often intersects with personal and economic struggles.
