Sorn Rakim trains rigorously at the renowned Rahu Boxing Gym in Battambang. The gym serves as a crucible for his skills, shaping him into the formidable fighter he is today.
Rakim’s remarkable achievements include his triumph alongside six other Kun Khmer fighters – Kham Khla Neang, Rin David, Long Piseth, Khuon Langkosin, Chheang Lvei, and Him Kim Rieng – at the Grand Slam Tournament 2022 Open in Malaysia. Winning gold medals after dominating the Finals on August 18, 2022, Rakim, along with his compatriots, showcased their prowess by knocking out opponents in the exhilarating final matches.
During the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Vietnam from May 13th to May 22nd, 2022, Sorn Rakim competed in the 63kg kickboxing category but missed out on the semi-finals after losing to Thai fighter Santidongsakun Chaleamlap. This setback earned him a bronze medal. Similarly, at the Asian Kickboxing Championships 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand, Rakim once again secured a bronze medal in the kickboxing category.
In the spotlight of the SEA Games 2023, hosted by his home country of Cambodia, Rakim faced another challenge in kickboxing. Despite reaching the finals, he narrowly missed securing the coveted gold medal, settling for silver instead.

At the unveiling of Town HDTV’s new circular ring, which highlights bare-knuckle matches and introduces fighters wearing fingerless gloves, Rakim stepped into the ring for a bare-knuckle bout against an Indonesian adversary. Throughout the match, Rakim maintained relentless pressure on his opponent, ultimately forcing the Indonesian fighter to concede defeat in the later stages of the second round.
