Yen Dina (Khmer: យ៉េន ឌីណា), born Por Phearith in 1993 in Koh Kong province, is affectionately known as “Neak Kamnach Koh Kong,” roughly translated to “The Fierce Naga/Dragon of Koh Kong.” He is a very experienced Kun Khmer boxers of Cambodia.
Journey to Kun Khmer
Yen Dina’s journey in Kun Khmer began at the age of 9, fueled by his passion for the martial artាand full support from his family. Under the mentorship of the Kun Khmer legend Eh Phouthong, he honed his skills and embarked on a path that would lead to significant achievements.
Achievements
Yen Dina boasts an impressive record with 127 wins, 10 losses, and 29 victories by TKO in 140 bouts. At the 31st SEA Games in 2021 held in Vietnam, Dina played a pivotal role in Cambodia’s gold medal victory in free boxing, representing the nation in the 63.5kg category.
His journey included defeating opponents from the Philippines and Thailand before facing host Vietnam’s Truong Cao Minh Phat in the gold medal final. Yen Dina emerged victorious, securing a gold medal and becoming the second Khmer fighter, following Khim Dima, to achieve this feat in the freestyle boxing category at the SEA Games. This historic win preceded the upcoming SEA Games in 2023 hosted by Cambodia.
After a brief break following a few disappointing results, Dina made a promise to redouble his efforts and resume rigorous training. Upon his return to the ring, he faced a formidable opponent from Kyrgyzstan, at Town TV’s Wurkz 8-Way Khmer Martial Arts Arena on February 4, 2024, ultimately emerging victorious by unanimous decision.
It’s worth mentioning that over the past two years, Yen Dina’s performance in the sport has seen a decline, likely due to personal challenges within his family.
