Sen Bunthen (Khmer: សេន ប៊ុនថេន), born in 1989, is retired Kun Khmer fighter who ascended to eminence as a figure in Kun Khmer and Kickboxing, notably during his peak in 2015. His presence illuminated numerous national and international arenas, leaving an indelible mark on the sport. Notably, he clinched a coveted belt in the Thai Fight arena, distinguishing himself as one of the few Kun Khmer fighters to achieve such a feat. Currently, he is among the successful Kun Khmer Trainers for his gym and the national team. He is also a Kun Khmer referee and police officer.
Early Life and Entry into Kun Khmer
Bunthen’s journey in Kun Khmer began under the guidance of his cousin, Sen Vanna, a former Kun Khmer Champion, who provided him with early training. Fueled by his passion for martial arts, Bunthen relocated to Phnom Penh, where he swiftly immersed himself in the discipline. Within two weeks, he stepped into his inaugural match, laying the foundation for a remarkable career. He draws inspiration from Kun Khmer legend Bird Kham, admiring his agility and strategic prowess in the ring.
Career
Throughout his illustrious boxing career, Bunthen confronted adversaries both domestic and foreign. Notable among his domestic battles were encounters with esteemed fighters like Vorn Viva and Pich Sophan. Bunthen ventured into the global realm of Kun Khmer, earning accolades beyond Cambodia’s borders, including his triumph in securing a coveted belt in the Thai Fight arena.
Legacy and Gratitude
Upon retiring from active competition in 2017, Bunthen partnered with Bird Kham to nurture the next generation of Kun Khmer fighters. Their collaborative efforts have yielded promising talents such as Bird Sangkhim, ensuring the enduring legacy of Khmer martial arts. In addition to his coaching endeavors, Bunthen continues to uphold the values of discipline and public service through his dedicated role as a police officer.

| NOTE: Fight records of Kun Khmer fighters vary across TV stations. Therefore, I maintain an independent tally, adding one after each new fight to ensure consistency. These statistics include bouts under all rules such as Kun Khmer, Mas Fight, MMA, and Kickboxing and at all levels, including amateur fights, as Kun Khmer has historically lacked a standardized recording system. As a result, totals may appear higher than those of some international fighters, whose records often include only professional bouts. | |
